In fact, it has already started.\u00a0 We have already seen 3D almost everything, and recently 3D candy. But lately we been seeing 3D chocolate, cake decoration and even an experimental pizza for NASA.\u00a0 Not sure about that pizza though.\u00a0 What is interesting about the 3D printed candy is that Designer and architect Liz Von Hasseln, the co-creator of ChefJet<\/a> did not build a special 3D printer.\u00a0 They tool a normal Cube 3D printer and with some modification, were able to create 3D candy.\u00a0 The opened Sugar Lab where people could order 3D printed sweets and soon 3DSystems bought the company and turned their modified 3D Cube in the ChefJet<\/a> and ChefJetPro.\u00a0 But its not just sweets.<\/p>\n

Hershey and 3D Systems are teamed up to make 3D printed chocolates available to the public.\u00a0 This is the same idea with the 3D sweets and opens the same possibilities.\u00a0 Image amazing 3D chocolate sculptures at the next event you attend. We already do this for Easter and Christmas, why not less popular holidays?\u00a0 Why not on cakes?\u00a0 ( check out the image at the bottom ). So think about it.\u00a0 How many cakes do you see when you go into the supermarket?\u00a0 Quite a bit.\u00a0 Each one is hand created.\u00a0 Normally if you have a special event, you chose from a preset catalog of designs and have a message printed for you.\u00a0 Instead, we have have various cake shapes, perhaps primitives that can be cut and combined in to more interesting ‘core’ cake shapes. And then you can create your own design from a collection of 3D objects, images and text.\u00a0 You can create you own cake design on the fly.\u00a0 You can take pre existing designs and modify it.\u00a0 Given that we can 3D print candy, chocolate and I assume anything else that can go from liquid to solid, out cakes would not be limited to just icing.\u00a0 Although I have to question if there is any value to pizza on a cake….\u00a0 well actually it could be good.<\/p>\n
