\"\"<\/a>I only got to see it for a short time, but I was pretty impressed when I saw it.\u00a0 I can’t wait to spend some more time with the new iPad and see just how much of a difference it makes once I’m in the middle of doing something. However, as I described in my article on whether or not you should upgrade to the new ipad,<\/a> I said it was like living with an older TV then suddenly buying a LED HD TV.\u00a0 It’s that much of a difference.\u00a0 But after awhile, my HD TV is still just a TV, yes I can still ‘notice’ the difference, but its not like I cannot watch non HD programming anymore. I expect it to be the same thing with the retina display.<\/p>\n

CNET <\/a>did an article talking about the new iPad and they started out with a review of the new retina display as well as some thoughts from other reviewers.\u00a0 So I thought I would share them here.<\/p>\n

1. The new screen looks good<\/strong>
\nJoshua Topolsky over at The Verge<\/a> called the new display “outrageous”:<\/p>\n

“It’s stunning. It’s incredible. I’m not being hyperbolic or exaggerative when I say it is easily the most beautiful computer display I have ever looked at. “<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Walt Mossberg at AllThingsD<\/a> compared it to a medical exam–a good one that is:<\/p>\n

“Using the new display is like getting a new eyeglasses prescription–you suddenly realize what you thought looked sharp before wasn’t nearly as sharp as it could be.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

M.G. Siegler at TechCrunch<\/a> made a similar comparison, saying the new screen will make you “cringe” when looking at older models:<\/p>\n

“Perhaps it’s unfair to say the older iPad screens look ‘blurry’ compared to the new iPad. It’s more along the lines of ‘fuzzy’. After using the new iPad for an extended period of time then switching back to an iPad 2 (or 1, for that matter), you’ll cringe at the pixelated cloud the appears to surround every app icon. Text will look murky. Colors will look muted.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That’s not to say everything was peachy. Mossberg dinged the display for still being glossy and performing poorly in direct sunlight.<\/p>\n
