\"\"<\/a>Jailbreak of iOS 5.0.1 has been out for awhile and now unlock has been released.\u00a0 So I thought I would gather the links you need to pull this off.\u00a0 If you are not sure about the difference between jailbreaking and unlocking your iphone, have a look at this iphone jailbreaking FAQ.<\/a><\/p>\n

If you do not need to unlock your phone, follow this link and follow the instructions.\u00a0 Jailbreaking the iphone 5.0.1<\/a><\/p>\n

Now, if you want to unlock your phone as well, make sure you use the preserve baseband method <\/a>.<\/p>\n

Something you will need to do is create a custom iOS ipsw file.\u00a0 I would recommend doing this regardless if you are unlocking or now. I included the instructions from iphone4jailbreak.org<\/a><\/p>\n

Follow the tutorial below to create custom iOS 5.0.1 ipsw file and use it with Redsn0w 0.9.10b1 and PwnageTool to unlock your iPhone 4 using Ultrasn0w 1.2.5<\/a> available for free in Cydia.\u00a0 Unlock available for supported baseband only ( list at the bottom ) . This tutorial will also come in handy for Gevey Sim users who need to preserve their old baseband 04.10.01 for unlock .<\/p>\n

Method 1 :<\/strong> Redsn0w Baseband Preservation Method<\/p>\n

Steps to create custom iOS 5.0.1 ipsw and Unlock iPhone 4 \u2013 Redsn0w:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Download Redsnow 0.9.10b1<\/a> \"redsn0w<\/li>\n
  2. Download iOS 5.0.1 ipsw file<\/a><\/li>\n
  3. Launch Redsn0w.exe app in \u201cAdministrator Mode\u201d .<\/li>\n
  4. Click Extras > Custom IPSW and select the iOS 5.0.1 ipsw file downloaded in Step 2<\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. Redsn0w will now create a custom ipsw file for your device and save it as \u201cno_bb<\/strong>\u201d as a prefix for the file name.<\/li>\n
  6. Turn off your iPhone and use Redsnow > Extras > Pwned DFU<\/a> to put your device in recovery mode<\/li>\n
  7. Launch iTunes and press SHIFT + Restore and select the custom ipsw created in Step 5<\/strong><\/li>\n
  8. iTunes will upgrade your phone to iOS 5.0.1 preserving its baseband .<\/li>\n
  9. Now follow the Redsn0w tutorial here <\/a>to jailbreak your iPhone .<\/li>\n
  10. After jailbreak is complete unlock your iPhone 4 , iPhone 3GS using Ultrasnow 1.2.5 <\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Method 2 :<\/strong> PwnageTool Baseband Preservation Method<\/p>\n

    1. Download PwnageTool for iOS 5.0.1<\/a> \"pwnage<\/li>\n
    2. Launch the application on your Mac and select your iOS device ( iPhone 4 in this case)<\/li>\n
    3. Now PwnageTool will search and find your iOS firmware (iOS 5.0.1) . If it is unable to find the firmware , choose \u201cExpert<\/strong>\u201d mode and browse the ipsw file downloaded from Apple servers (link<\/a>) .<\/li>\n
    4. Now click on \u201cBuild<\/strong>\u201d to create the custom IPSW for your device. \"pwnageTool<\/li>\n
    5. Follow on-screen instructions to put your device in DFU mode (Pwned DFU) for restore with iTunes .<\/li>\n
    6. Launch iTunes and select the custom ipsw file created by PwnageTool .<\/li>\n
    7. To do this you have to press and hold Option + Restore<\/strong> button and select the custom firmware<\/li>\n
    8. Itunes will now restore and jailbreak your device while also preserving its baseband for unlock with Ultrasn0w <\/a>and Gevey Sim .<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Note :<\/strong> The Ultrasnow 1.2.5 unlock works for the following supported basebands of iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS . iPhone 4S unlock is not available yet .<\/p>\n
