{"id":5019,"date":"2011-04-21T18:28:25","date_gmt":"2011-04-22T02:28:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.perivision.net\/wordpress\/?p=5019"},"modified":"2011-04-21T18:32:13","modified_gmt":"2011-04-22T02:32:13","slug":"att-seems-both-evil-and-dumb-with-t-mobile-fcc-filing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.perivision.net\/wordpress\/2011\/04\/att-seems-both-evil-and-dumb-with-t-mobile-fcc-filing\/","title":{"rendered":"AT&#038;T seems both evil and dumb with t-mobile and FCC filing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.perivision.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/DeathStarAtT1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4673\" title=\"DeathStarAt&amp;T\" src=\"https:\/\/www.perivision.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/DeathStarAtT1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"197\" \/><\/a>Sometime, you just have to shake you head when a company as large as AT&amp;T fails in its attempt to convince people that its not the death star.\u00a0 First seem in <a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/tech-policy\/news\/2011\/04\/att-t-mobile-sucks-and-wed-like-to-buy-it-for-39-billion.ars\" target=\"_blank\">Ars Technica<\/a>, AT&amp;T tried to convince everyone that T-Mobile its low grade, not worth talking about and that this really will not change the mobile landscape, and in some alternative universe, will actually increase compitition.\u00a0 Wow.\u00a0 Read it yourself..<\/p>\n<p>Here is AT&amp;T&#8217;s own description of the company it <a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/business\/news\/2011\/03\/att-swallows-t-mobile-to-create-us-largest-carrier.ars\">plans to buy for $39 billion<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;T-Mobile is not an important factor in AT&amp;T\u2019s competitive decision-making.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;As a standalone company, however, T-Mobile USA would continue to face substantial commercial and spectrum-related challenges. It  confronts increased competition from industry mavericks such as  MetroPCS, Leap, and others; its percentage of US subscribers has been  falling for nearly two years; and it has no clear path to LTE.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;T-Mobile USA, in contrast to others, does not have a differentiated  network position. T-Mobile USA has admitted that it suffered from its  late transition to a 3G network, and unlike Sprint, which first promoted  a 4G network, T-Mobile USA\u2019s HSPA+ launch appears to have been lost  among other carriers\u2019 4G messaging.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;AT&amp;T does not believe that T-Mobile USA has a particularly  compelling portfolio of smartphone offerings as compared to AT&amp;T,  Verizon, and Sprint.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;To the extent that T-Mobile USA\u2019s prices  are lower than those received by AT&amp;T and Verizon Wireless for  otherwise comparable subscribers, T-Mobile USA\u2019s lower prices have not  stimulated growth in its share of retail subscribers.
