Yea!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I did a \u2018maintenance ride\u2019 today and thought I would try out a new iphone app I downloaded last night called\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/RecentlyAddedIphoneApplications-PinchMedia\/~3\/380771686\/viewSoftware\" target=\"_blank\">TrackThing<\/a>. I basically turned it on, put it in the small pouch on the back of the bike and took off, ibiking if you will.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #800000;\">{UPDATE}<\/span> Since writing this post I have reviewed a number of other iphone apps.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.perivision.net\/wordpress\/?s=bicycle\">Have a look here.<\/a><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>When I was done, I checked to see what kind of information I got and WOW.<\/p>\n<p>This is a still a young application, and later on I will send feedback with idea\u2019s to make it better, but this is great. \u00a0So lets break this down a bit\u2026<\/p>\n<p>First here is the ride I took from Oakland to Berkeley and back, short little 10 miler\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perivision.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/bikerideroute.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-283\" src=\"http:\/\/perivision.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/bikerideroute.jpg?w=251&amp;h=398\" alt=\"\" width=\"251\" height=\"398\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For those of you who know the area, there is a pretty good climb at the top of this loop climbing hwy 13.<\/p>\n<p>Now lets look at TrackThing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perivision.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/picture-068.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-281\" src=\"http:\/\/perivision.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/picture-068.png?w=320&amp;h=480\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pretty cool eh? \u00a0You can clearly see where I started my climb and then my decent. \u00a0What is odd though, this the delay between elevation drop and rise in speed. \u00a0Here is a close up\u2026<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perivision.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/trackthing.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-284\" src=\"http:\/\/perivision.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/trackthing.png?w=184&amp;h=406\" alt=\"\" width=\"184\" height=\"406\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>How is it that I was only starting to roll past 25mph when 1\/2 way down the hill? I normally hit 28-30 at about 1\/3 down the hill. Course, I did not have a great ride today, so it could be correct and I just did not get rolling very well. \u00a0But I\u2019m going to take this on another ride with around 500\u2032 (if the iphone is correct) climb to double check.\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-smiley\" src=\"http:\/\/s.wordpress.com\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/icon_smile.gif\" alt=\":)\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Something else to note in the larger image. You can see all the times I had to break hard for traffic and stop for lights. (Yea, I stop for lights).<\/p>\n<p>There are other screens on this application<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/perivision.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/picture-069.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-285\" src=\"http:\/\/perivision.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/picture-069.png?w=320&amp;h=480\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"480\" \/> <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/perivision.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/picture-074.png\"> <\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/perivision.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/picture-075.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-287\" src=\"http:\/\/perivision.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/09\/picture-075.png?w=320&amp;h=480\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are a few more, but I did not include them because they did not offer new information.
