IntelliScreen is one of my core apps.  Cant leave home without it.

To install IntelliScreen on 2.1 2.0/3G Firmware:
* In Cydia, choose the Manage tab
* Choose “Sources” and then “Edit” and then add http://intelliborn.com/cydia
* Goto Sections tab, and choose the System category, and Install IntelliScreen

To install IntelliScreen on 1.x Firmware:
* In Installer.app, choose the Sources tab
* Choose “Edit” and then add http://intelliborn.com/repo.
* Goto Install tab, and choose the Productivity category, and Install IntelliScreen

So I figured, ok, yet another useless update.

However, a day and a half later, I finally jailbroke (pwned) the phone and did another field test.  This time it was coming in at -77db. (lower is better folks) Hmmm.. So the question is; was ATT slow in updating the software on their towers or did jailbreak actually improve my iphone performance!!  Well, I’m pretty sure it was ATT, but its fun to think it was jailbreak.

So far, I have not had another dropped call, but I do not use the iphone that much (mostly a skype user) so I’m not sure we can jump to any conclusions.

Oh, BTW, to get the field test, get to your phone keypad and enter *3001#12345#* then click call.

I took a short ride with trackthing lite on before the iphone 2.1 update and after hoping the GPS will work better and my graphs would be more stable with less spikes.  Sorry to say.. FAIL.  If you look at the two graphs below, they seem to have the same amount of noise within the data.  I was very careful to take exactly the same route as my first ride, although I had better lucks with the lights.  I still have yet to find a way to talk to the author and suggest a way to download the raw data, but hopefully they will read this and add it.  I would love to run a few smoothing algorithms and do spike exception checks. Even better, put some of this logic in the app itself.  And while I’m wishing, a larger scrollable graph for longer rides would be nice.  But again, its LITE and free, so these are not complaints … merely suggestions.

Something else to work on; I moved the graph line from the bottom portion of the display to the top because it seems to align more correctly then the one normally shown.

By the way we figured out a way to combat iTunes 8 without patches…and we’re waiting to see what Apple tries next.  But we think they might want to rethink their priorities.  They probably won’t though, and so we get back to the “cat and mouse” game between Apple and the Dev Team and other third-party communities.
