ok, in Dave Letterman fashion; the best jailbroken iphone applications for your smartphone happies.
{Update} Since Qik is now available via the app store, I’m going to remove it from the list. So if people want to recommend a new app for consideration, this is the time to let me know.
from 10 to 1..
Number 10 …. (drum roll)
10. WinterBoard
iPhone pimping made easy. The is normally the first thing people install and spends HOURS playing with. As for me, with exception to a few small changes, I do not bother with it since many of the changes can slow the phone down a touch.

| 9. Unix Tools Mobile Terminal, openSSH
If you have to ask, you do not need it. |
|
| 8. Cycoder
Video recording on the iPhone. Nuff said. More here. |
|
| 7. Qik
Provides real time streaming video from your iphone to a web page where anyone can see it. (If you set the permissions as such). Also, if the phone cannot get a connection, it will hold the video till it does. Cool points for being able to see the video on the iphone. More here. |

| 6. ClearCam
clearCam As we all know, and I have said many times, the camera on the iphone is about as weak as it gets. Well this app does something about it. Now understand this is only useful for still images, but the results cannot be argued. Have a look at these shots below. Crazy, yea? Go here for more example shots. |

5. Clippy Clippy was first sold as a ‘kinda’ cut and paste system. And ‘kinda’ is about as accurate as you can get, which given the absolute FAIL on Apple’s part for not having cut and paste, is still pretty good. But where Clippy shines, and why it’s a ‘must have’ is the ability to store a list of words/phrases for pasting. Kinda like the clipboard stack in windows. I also like that it does ‘cut’ from SMS messages. Very useful for addresses. More here… |

| 4. IntelliScreen As much as I like this app, I’m still not 100% sure I’m going to keep it. It seems to have issues now and again.. Interfering with screen init(), slowing the iphone down, not working at times.. We’ll see. I just updated to 2.2, so I’ll run it for awhile. Bug fix update here… |

| 3. PdaNet If you are ever in need of interwebs access for your laptop and there is no free wifi is site, well, use the iPhone! Its not fast, but handy when you need it. More here.. |

| 2. Categories A must have if you have lots if junk on your iPhone. Basically its folders for your icons! Clear and simple. |

| 1. SBSetting I could not go one day without this. (this is a older pic, its even better) This perfect little app provides a short cut to your most used settings and aps. I turn 3G on and off quite often, and going through all the menus within settings is a royal pain. With SBSetting, I simply swipe across the top of the screen and there they are.. ready for toggles. Sweeeettt.. More here.. |

Now, the following did not make the top 10, but I thought I would mention them anyway..
Quake. Yup ID’s Quake from the old days. I do not play it much, just glad that its there.
VideoRecorder. If this worked properly I would place it over CyCorder because I love the fact you can change setting on both voice and sound. More here.
Retro Phone Dialer.. What can I say?? Is just plain cool.

lol sbs settings crashed my ipod touch and put it into safe mode i had to restart it to get out of safe mode but all in all its ok with the exception of it not working sometimes when you double tap the status bar and your right about winterboard also its really cool but in the process my ipod touch became very slow (no surprise because its only 8gb and i have many things on it)
sbsettings crashed and put me into safe mode TWICE
using the iPhone or ipod touch?
oh, you do not 2x tap the status bar, you swipe across it. Also, the mem on your device does not impact speed, the CPU and the OS's ability to swap memory as you move from app to app is more the limiting factor. But yes, the more stuff you have that wants CPU time (like some winterboard apps) the slower and more buggy your device will be. I still have yet to re install intelliScreen despite the fact I already paid for it. I will at some point, but really liking how well the OS is running at the moment.
BTW, as for SBS.. I use it many times a day. Nothing but sweetness.

what is the 3rd winterboard theme in your pic? the earthy looking one?
thanks,
Ah, its been so long I do not remember.
This was back when winderboard first came out.
I have a question about mywi and pdanet… With the new tethering build-in feature in the iphone, my phone compagny (and others) have added a line for tethering on our bills, planning to charge us for using it in january 2010 (even if you dont use all of our data package we are already paying for). Do you know if they can know we are tethering when we are using pdanet or mywi?
Thanks
I’m guessing you are asking if PDANet is still useful. Yes, because you can do a wiresless tether and AT&T tethering does not always work.
Oh, I did not see the whole message. No, I dont think they can since the way it works is to use the normal digital connection on the iphone and reroute that to your laptop. I'm not sure however, so I cannot give you a definitive answer. I would check around and see if other have new information. When I first started using PDANet, there was not a clear answer on this question.
Thanks for the quick reply… Ill stay posted if you have more infos…;)
what is the blueish theme?
I don't know. This was from way back when I first started keeping a list. Wish I kept notes.
